Abbotsford rent reaches highest point in past 6 months
September marked back-to-back months of rising rental prices in Abbotsford, with average asking prices now reaching the highest point since February.
The latest report from Rentals.ca revealed that Abbotsford prices increased from $1,772 in August to $1,819 in September, marking a 2.7 per cent monthly increase.
This brings the city to an unfortunate milestone of having the highest average rental asking price in the past seven months. The last time Abbotsford had a monthly decrease in rent was back in May.
Despite this upward trend in prices, Abbotsford still remains the most affordable B.C. city on the report’s list, sitting at number 17 for the entire country.
It is also the second-slowest-growing B.C. market, with September’s prices being 6.1 per cent lower than in 2025.
The province as a whole has been going through a similar transition, with September bringing a $16 monthly increase in rent.
The average asking price of $2,403 is the highest in Canada, but is still 2.9 per cent lower than a year ago.
Keeping the provincial average price so high is the handful of B.C. cities sitting atop the list of the country’s most expensive markets.
North Vancouver kept its infamous crown as Canada’s most expensive rental city due to its average price of $2,983.
It was joined by four other Lower Mainland cities, with half of the 10 most expensive cities located in B.C.
