NDP leader makes brief Langley visit

NDP leader David Eby made a brief campaign stop in Langley on Thursday, Oct. 15, where he met with local candidates and volunteers.

The incumbent premier addressed supporters at the campaign office of Langley-Willowbrook NDP candidate Andrew Mercier. Mercier and Langley-Walnut Grove candidate Holly Isaac were both on hand.

Eby gave a brief speech, talking up his party’s plans to regulate grocery prices for essentials, and to keep car insurance low.

He also took a few potshots at BC Conservative leader Lorne Doerkson in the wake of the Wednesday, Oct. 14 leaders debate.

“The Conservative leader is in hiding right now,” Eby claimed.

Eby left the event without taking questions.

Doerksen also visited Langley earlier in the campaign , when he promised to remove the 10 per cent PST on Canadian-produced alcohol in a stop at Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery.

However, the leaders have not been a frequent sight in Langley during this campaign. Eby and Doerksen have visited Surrey multiple times , as the NDP and BC Conservatives battle over the ridings there.
