Inmate released in error back in custody

A Department of Corrections inmate was mistakenly released from custody early Thursday morning due to an error made by CPSO Corrections deputies.

He was later located and booked back into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

“As Sheriff, I believe in being transparent with the community we serve, even when mistakes are made on our part,” said Sheriff Stitch Guillory. “We recognize the seriousness of this and will be reviewing our procedures to determine how the error occurred and making any necessary changes needed to prevent this from occurring again.”

The inmate was serving time for drug-related charges.
