Swedish healthtech company lands €50 million to expand digital obesity care across Europe
Lund-based digital healthcare provider Yazen Health has secured €50 million in an investment partnership led by European growth investor Verdane , with participation from existing investor Evli Growth Partners (EGP) . Yazen specializes in treating obesity as a chronic disease, combining weight-loss medication with ongoing digital care from a multidisciplinary team of doctors, dietitians, psychologists and physiotherapists. The new capital will support the expansion of its evidence-based care model across Europe and the development of a broader offering in cardiometabolic care.
Founded in Sweden, Yazen provides digital medical care for people living with obesity, integrating prescription weight-loss medication with continuous clinical support. Its model includes access to a personal doctor and a wider healthcare team that can provide guidance on nutrition, psychological wellbeing, physical activity and long-term treatment.
The company positions obesity as a chronic, progressive disease that requires ongoing medical management rather than a short-term approach to weight loss. Its care model is designed to support patients throughout treatment, addressing a challenge in obesity care: discontinuation of medication and treatment.
According to Yazen, more than 50,000 patients are currently receiving treatment through its platform, while over 70,000 patients have received care in total. The company operates in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, Switzerland and Spain.
Yazen has also reported findings from a 2025 study involving its patients that showed 70% remained in treatment after 12 months. The company says its model combines medication with regular clinical support to improve treatment adherence.
“Obesity is a chronic, progressive disease, not a character flaw. Verdane’s thorough evaluation of the European market confirms what our clinical data already shows: our medical model delivers results that set a new standard for the industry. This partnership provides us with a long-term and strong financial foundation. We can now build an established European healthcare platform that helps hundreds of thousands of patients achieve a lastingly healthier life, while simultaneously reducing the burden on public healthcare,” says Fredrik Meurling , CEO of Yazen.
The €50 million investment is led by Verdane, a European growth investment firm focused on technology-enabled and sustainable businesses. Existing investor Evli Growth Partners is also participating, continuing its backing of Yazen after first investing in the company two years ago.
“We are deeply impressed by the Yazen team and the strong momentum it is demonstrating. Our analysis made it clear that Yazen stands out as a reliable and scalable leader in medical weight management, where it combines medical excellence with accessibility. We are experienced in building responsible, digital healthcare companies with a strong focus on data privacy and medical governance, and we look forward to supporting Yazen as a long-term partner as it continues to make a measurable and life-changing difference to individual health,” says Cecilia Nytorp , Principal at Verdane.
Verdane said its decision to invest was informed by Yazen’s clinical outcomes, medical standards and patient-focused approach, as well as the potential to scale its model across European markets. The investment firm has experience supporting digital healthcare businesses, including companies operating in regulated environments.
“When we first backed Yazen two years ago, we saw a team capable of setting a new standard in medical obesity care. Since then, they have expanded across Europe while maintaining uncompromising clinical standards and a deep commitment to their patients. We are delighted to continue our support alongside Verdane as lead investor . This funding provides the scale to reach more European markets and broaden treatment across cardiometabolic care. The true measure of Yazen’s success, however, is personal. Recently at an event, an individual approached our team solely to express how Yazen had changed his life — a story mirrored by tens of thousands of patients who have found lasting health through this platform.” says Mikael Hed , Chairman of the Board, Yazen, and EGP Growth Partner.
Yazen plans to use the capital to expand its existing services across Europe and broaden treatment into cardiometabolic care. The company says the funding provides a long-term financial foundation for reaching more patients and developing its position as a European digital healthcare provider.
CEO Fredrik Meurling said the partnership would enable Yazen to build a larger healthcare platform while maintaining its focus on clinical quality and patient outcomes.
