NPP Demands Kofi Adams’ Resignation over Visa Controversy
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams , to resign or be removed from office over allegations of irregularities in a visa facilitation arrangement involving the National Sports Authority (NSA), Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and private entity TRIBE Culture Fest.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on October 15, 2026, the party’s National Communications Director, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, said investigations should cover all officials and institutions involved in correspondence with US and Canadian diplomatic missions.
He questioned why accountability should be limited to NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, following action taken against him by the Presidency, when the Sports Ministry allegedly wrote to the US Embassy seeking visa facilitation consideration for about 90 individuals.
The NPP also questioned the due diligence conducted before the letter, reportedly dated May 28, 2026, was sent, particularly after the US Embassy’s Fraud Prevention Unit allegedly flagged questionable NSA designations in March.

Mr Aboagye argued that the absence of evidence that the minister personally benefited financially did not settle questions about possible abuse of office or administrative negligence.
The party has also called for the GTA chief executive to step aside while investigations continue.
It further urged the Office of the Special Prosecutor and the Economic and Organised Crime Office to join the Criminal Investigation Department in tracing payments allegedly made by visa applicants.
The allegations have not, by themselves, established wrongdoing by the officials or institutions named.
