Vallarta Water Service Restored, Storm Watch Remains

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Residents across Puerto Vallarta can turn on their taps once again following a temporary shutdown of the city’s water system over the weekend. SEAPAL Vallarta, the municipal water utility, has fully reopened its storage tanks after taking preventive steps to safeguard vital infrastructure against the threat of Hurricane Simon.
The decision to restore service came Sunday evening after Civil Protection authorities provided updated weather reports indicating conditions had stabilized enough to safely resume operations. SEAPAL Vallarta General Director Carlos Ruiz explained that shutting down the storage tanks was a necessary precaution to protect water reserves and ensure a smooth, organized restart once the immediate danger passed.
While clean running water is flowing again, official monitoring remains ongoing. Utility leaders caution that weather patterns can shift quickly during storm season, and another temporary suspension remains a possibility if conditions deteriorate.
Because of this uncertainty, SEAPAL Vallarta advises households to keep adequate water reserves on hand for basic needs like cooking, drinking, and sanitation. Residents are also encouraged to follow official channels for real-time updates regarding Hurricane Simon and any potential changes to local utility services.
