Balochistan women’s commission chairperson attends launch of Pakistan’s first National Strategy to Prevent Violence Against Children 2026–2031; urges stronger laws, enforcement and protection for girls
She made these remarks while attending the launch of Pakistan’s first National Strategy to Prevent Violence Against Children 2026–2031 in Islamabad at the invitation of the Ministry of Human Rights.
Developed with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and other partners, the strategy aims to protect children from physical, psychological and other forms of violence while safeguarding their fundamental rights and ensuring a safe environment.
Kiran Baloch emphasized that every child deserves protection, education, dignity and equal opportunities to develop their potential.
She said legislation alone was insufficient without effective implementation, public awareness and reliable mechanisms to provide immediate legal and social assistance to children affected by violence.
The chairperson called for accessible, child-friendly complaint systems enabling children to report abuse or exploitation without fear or pressure and receive timely protection, support and access to justice.
She particularly stressed the need to protect girls from violence, exploitation, child marriage and gender discrimination, while ensuring equal access to education and development opportunities.
Baloch expressed hope that effective implementation of the national strategy would strengthen children’s rights, promote gender equality and contribute to building a society free from violence.
She reaffirmed the importance of stronger institutional coordination and collective action to ensure that every child, particularly girls, could grow up in a safe, dignified and supportive environment.
