Quality Healthcare for Every Citizen Our Priority: Bakht Kakar

QUETTA | ANN | Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar has said the provincial government is committed to ensuring quality healthcare for every citizen through comprehensive health sector reforms, modernization of public hospitals and improved access to medical services, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

Speaking during meetings with various delegations, Kakar said the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, was taking practical steps to strengthen public healthcare institutions and address longstanding deficiencies in medical facilities.

He emphasized that providing essential healthcare services was a fundamental responsibility of the government and warned that negligence, poor service delivery and unnecessary difficulties faced by patients would not be tolerated.

The minister said special attention was being given to improving healthcare facilities in remote districts so that residents would have less need to travel to major cities for treatment.

He identified the provision of modern medical equipment, improvement of hospital wards, availability of essential medicines, regular attendance of doctors and medical staff, and timely treatment as key government priorities.

Kakar stressed that hospital administrations must maintain cleanliness, improve patient guidance and ensure respectful treatment of patients while strengthening accountability and professional standards among healthcare workers.

He said expanding specialized treatment facilities for cardiac, kidney and other serious diseases remained an important component of the government’s healthcare policy.

The minister also highlighted the need to provide free or affordable medical treatment to low-income and deserving families, calling for more effective implementation of health card initiatives and other government-supported healthcare programs.

He said improving hospital performance and promptly addressing public complaints were essential to restoring confidence in government healthcare institutions.

Kakar reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to continuing health sector reforms, strengthening hospital monitoring and ensuring equitable access to basic and quality medical services throughout Balochistan.
