Through weekly gig programming the brewery brings local talent to the stage, hosting EP launches, funky cover bands, emerging songwriters, and acclaimed acts. October sees the venue welcome the likes of Dandy Jonestown Massacre (Saturday 24 Oct), Romanie and Clover Blue (Sunday 25 October), and The Silversound (Friday 30 October). In addition, they also have a weekly Thursday night open mic, and regular Sunday serenades, perfect for this upcoming warmer weather.

Also adding to that warmer weather welcome are the thirst-quenchers and tasty treats on offer across Shedshaker’s menu. As their name suggests, however, Shedshaker Brewing and Taproom has a strong affinity for the golden gems – and we’re not talking about the glistening speckles found in the ground of their Gold Rush country. The beer is the real hero of the Shedshaker menu. There’s fifteen beers on tap spanning the core classic range of a clean Pilsner, the crisp-bite of the Frailty Pale Ale, the daring Knucklehead Rye IPA, the malty member Celtic Red, or the friendly Golden Ale. Dive deeper into the brewery’s blends with a cheeky Choc Porter, a Whey Stout, a Blood Orange Bitters (BOB) Stout, an Espresso Black Lager, or a West Coast IPA. It’s a strong standing of flavour, one that pairs perfectly with their sharing style menu.

Settle in for Italian-inspired plates spanning marinated olives, garlic focaccia, Tuscan white bean dip, bruschetta, crispy tofu, arancini, polpette and calamari fritti. Pasta brings house-made gnocchi, creamy mushroom linguine, beef and ale pappardelle, sausage rigatoni and classic lasagne. Hand-stretched pizzas range from Margherita and Funghi to Diavola and Salsiccia, while sides include roasted pumpkin, kipfler potatoes and winter greens. Finish with tiramisu, panna cotta, affogato, chocolate parfait, apple calzone or Long Paddock cheeses. The spring menu adds Cauliflower zeppole (cauliflower donuts) with cannellini puree, chilli, pesto and Grana Padano, Salt-baked celeriac with hazelnut, black truffle and herbs, and Zucca pizza with confit garlic, mozzarella, leeks, sage, pumpkin, taleggio and pistachio gremolata.

With a spring menu ready to shake things up, fifteen beers pouring and a packed gig guide ahead, Shedshaker is raising the bar, and the glass, on Castlemaine’s cultural scene.
