Tinubu Has United Politicians Who Never Agreed To Work Together – Kwankwaso
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, said on Thursday that President Bola Tinubu had gained the support of former political rivals ahead of the 2027 general election.
He said the participation of politicians from different parties in Tinubu’s re-election campaign showed that the President was attracting support beyond the APC.
Speaking on the development, Kwankwaso said the coming together of politicians who had previously disagreed politically was a sign of the support Tinubu had gained.
“To me, the inauguration of the Campaign Council is like a congregation celebrating the re-election of President Tinubu back to office,” he said.
He added that the presence of politicians from parties such as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party showed that the President’s political support base was expanding.
Kwankwaso argued that it was unusual for politicians from different political backgrounds, including those who had never agreed to work together, to unite behind one candidate.
“It has never happened in Nigeria’s political history that one man could attract nearly all opposition parties, not only opposition politicians, but people who have never agreed to sit together yet, because of Tinubu, they have accepted to come on board and pursue a common goal,” he said.
The APC chieftain also defended Tinubu’s economic policies.
According to him, the views expressed by Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, and other political leaders showed an understanding of the challenges facing Nigeria and the global economy.
He maintained that the 2027 election was about more than Tinubu’s political future.
He argued that the President should be given another term to consolidate his economic reforms, despite the difficulties Nigerians have faced.
