UNIBEN Graduates Recreate 1998 Photo After 28 Years of Friendship

A group of friends who studied Computer Science at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) have warmed hearts online after recreating a photograph they took 28 years ago as undergraduates.

Tuokpe Onuwaje shared the throwback and recent photographs on Facebook, showing the friends posing together in 1998 and again in 2026.

According to Onuwaje, the reunion was a celebration of more than three decades of friendship that began during their university days.

She disclosed that the friends recreated the memorable photograph during the 50th birthday celebration of one of their own, Evelyn.

Sharing the pictures, she wrote: “1998 vs. 2026!

“28 years between these two pictures, but over 30 years of friendship!

“From the classrooms of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Computer Science Class of ’98, to recreating this priceless memory at Evelyn 50th birthday celebration!

“Who would have thought that all these years later, we’d still be making memories together? Different years, different locations, same beautiful people!”

She concluded her post with the hashtag, “UNIBEN Computer Science Class of ’98, we still dey!”

The heartwarming reunion celebrates the enduring bonds formed during their university years and highlights how friendships can stand the test of time despite changing circumstances and the passage of decades.

Their decision to recreate the photograph has also offered a nostalgic glimpse into their student days, bringing their shared memories from 1998 into the present.
