AS Roma will now be gearing up for their second league phase contest of the UEFA Champions League 2026-27 campaign. They are all set to lock horns with Real Madrid at Stadio Olimpico. The Gian Piero Gasperini-led side are on an unbeaten run since the beginning of the new season. They have shown some promising performances in Serie A. Their opening game of the European competition this season ended in a 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce. AS Roma scored a goal in the first half. They failed to defend well and conceded one in the second half. They are going to be the hosts for their upcoming UCL game. This is going to be a big advantage for them. The Wolves must not make any mistakes against the Merengues. Even though Real Madrid are coming off a win against Villarreal in LaLiga, their performance was not quite as impressive as it should have been. They struggled to control the ball and were not good enough in the attacking front. Los Blancos came out on top to secure a 2-1 win against Inter Milan in their previous UEFA Champions League outing. Real Madrid will now be looking to extend their winning run, but their efforts have to be consistent from the beginning till the end. Real Madrid have a star-studded lineup. However, they are still looking to find a balance in the squad. Players to Watch Manu Kone (AS Roma) Manu Kone will have a crucial role to play for AS Roma in their upcoming Champions League contest against Los Merengues. From controlling the midfield to breaking up the play, the 25-year-old Frenchman will be eager to create problems for Madrid. He will be looking to step up his game and deliver a top performance. Federico Valverde (Real Madrid) The 28-year-old midfielder from Uruguay was an absolute engine in the midfield for Real Madrid in their 1-0 victory against Villarreal. He created the joint-most chances (3) and also secured a crucial assist for Yan Diomande’s goal. Federico Valverde is going to be one of the main men in the squad for Los Blancos and will be eager to create issues for the opponent’s defence.
