How Gunmen Killed Plateau Traditional Ruler – Community Leader

A Community Leader in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State, Chief Sunday Arandong, has condemned the killing of the Mishkaham Bokkos, Da Jatau Yohanna Samkwar, by people suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Monday.

Arandong made the disclosure while speaking to LEADERSHIP in a telephone interview.

According to him, the traditional ruler died after suspected Fulani herders shot him in the leg at his residence in Daffo. “They came to his house at night and shot him in the leg. He was rushed to a hospital in Daffo, but he was later referred to another hospital. Unfortunately, he could not make it and died.”

Arandong insisted that the repeated attacks and killings had become a source of concern in Bokkos, adding that residents had continued with their daily activities despite the prevailing security challenges.

“However, presently the situation is calm now in Bokkos. We have been under constant attack over the last two decades.

He appealed to the federal government to deploy more security personnel, particularly from the DSS, to vulnerable communities in Bokkos LGA.

According to the community leader, there is no day by day that people are not being killed and property destroyed by these people who do not mean well for the state.

He further called on community members to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement, with a view to nipping any security breach in the bud.
