Peter Obi Meets Rural Women, Condemns Poor Government Policies During Visit To Akpu Sellers In FCT
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC Peter Obi has condemned what poor government policies, incompetence and mismanagement of national resources under Bola Tinubu, blaming them for worsening economic pressures on Nigerians, particularly rural women struggling to sustain their families and businesses.
Obi made the remarks on Thursday, October 15, after visiting members of the Akpu Sellers Association at their markets in Sheda and Sheda Galadima, in the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, to mark the International Day of Rural Women.
During the visit, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate said the women raised concerns about worsening hardship, declining patronage for their businesses, inadequate water supply and limited access to microcredit.
He said their complaints reflected the difficulties confronting rural women who contribute to food production, household welfare and local economic activities but, according to him, remain among the most neglected by government.
