INEC PLANNING TO USE AI TO RIG ELECTION – NDC

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of plotting to rig the 2027 general elections using Artificial Intelligence, AI.

NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, said INEC plans to rig the election in favour of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Recall that the National Chairman of INEC, Joash Amupitan, while speaking a recent world press conference, had disclosed the commission’s plan to use AI in the 2027 general elections.

However, Director wondered how INEC can effectively use AI to resolving electoral issues when the government can’t use the tool to tackle insecurity.

In a statement on X, the NDC spokesman said: “INEC is plotting to rig the 2027 general elections in favour of the ruinous APC by deploying Artificial Intelligence, AI.

“Suddenly, AI has become an attractive tool for the election management body.

“Not even a test run of the efficiency, or otherwise, of AI tools in off-cycle elections? Why did INEC not test-run AI in the Osun polls?”

“Why the hurry to use AI in the forthcoming general elections, just less than 100 days away? Something is amiss,” he added.
