FBR Extends Tax Return Deadline Again to October 31

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Thursday extended the Tax Year 2026 income tax return deadline to October 31 from October 15.

The extension covers taxpayers whose returns were originally due on September 30 and who received the earlier filing extension.

FBR’s Inland Revenue wing issued Circular No. 04 of 2026-27 under the Revenue Division. The notification invokes Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, as the legal authority to extend the filing date.

The board cited “requests received from various trade bodies and tax bar associations” as the reason for granting additional time.

This is the second extension for the affected taxpayers. FBR granted the first through Circular No. 3 of 2026-27 (IR-Operations), issued on the original due date.
