KACRAN Seeks INEC Extension of PVC Display, Distribution
By Sani Gazas Chinade Damaturu
The leadership of Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) wishes to passionately appeal to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to extend its ongoing exercise of Display of Preliminary Voters Register and Distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) by one week, from October 15 to October 22, 2026.
In a press statement signed by Khalid Muhammad Bello the national president of the association said, “As some Nigerians are aware, INEC is currently conducting the display of the Voters Register and distribution of PVCs at Ward Headquarters across all Local Government Areas of the Federation for Nigerians who registered online or physically between 18th August 2025 and 10th December 2025. This exercise will enable millions of Nigerians to collect their PVCs in preparation for the 2027 general elections, by grace of Allah.
However, the painful reality is that not all Nigerians are aware of this critical exercise. While those residing in big cities, towns, and the elites who follow daily happenings in the national dailies, both print, electronic and social media are informed, the vast majority of Nigerians, especially our members who reside in remote rural areas and bushes, are completely unaware of what is going on.
Therefore KACRAN’s appeal for a one-week extension is based on the following facts:
During the last phase of online and physical voter registration exercise, and even in this current phase of collection, KACRAN participated actively in sensitizing its members who did not have Permanent Voter Cards to go and register either physically or online to enable them to be eligible to vote and be voted for. This sensitization took us many months.
We are deeply concerned that despite the exercise coming to a close, the majority of Nigerians, especially in Northern Nigeria where KACRAN has the majority of its members, are not aware of when the exercise started and when it will end. Unlike our brothers in the Southern part of the country who are more enlightened on national happenings, many in the North are left behind, which gives others an added advantage.
KACRAN also notes with concern that there are thousands, if not millions, of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across the North who were forced to leave their hometowns and who later did online or physical voter registration. Now that the time for collecting their PVCs is almost over, they are not aware of what is happening, where their Ward Headquarters are, let alone going there to collect their cards.
We have also observed that it is only with a one-week extension that we will be able to ensure that our members who did online or physical registration are able to go to their Ward Headquarters to collect their voter cards.
We in KACRAN fully understand the critical importance of this ongoing exercise. In a country where 8 million plus votes can enable one to be duly elected President, millions of votes are not something to joke or play with.
In view of the importance and necessity of this one-week extension, and in order to avoid unnecessary disenfranchisement of many Nigerians, we are passionately appealing to INEC, as a matter of utmost importance, to kindly extend the deadline by one week, that is from 15th October, 2026 to 22nd October, 2026. This will give us ample time to ensure that all our members who participated in the voter registration exercise have collected their Permanent Voter Cards to enable them to be well prepared for the 2027 general elections, in which KACRAN is fully prepared to participate actively in the process of choosing good leaders who will lead our country with justice and fairness to all.
KACRAN painfully observes that the attention of most of our politicians is focused on campaign exercises and placing candidates of their choice for various electoral posts, while totally ignoring the very sensitive and important issue of sensitizing and guiding electorates who are yet to collect their PVCs to do so. We consider PVC collection as a sine qua non for excellent public participation on election days.
We also call on all Nigerians who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to please do everything humanly possible to go to their respective Ward Headquarters to collect theirs before it is too late.
We want all concerned to note that this is the last opportunity they have, if their names appear on the register, to go and collect their PVCs to avoid unnecessary regret that will be of no use.
At the same time, KACRAN is calling on the Northern Governors that if the deadline is extended by INEC, they should declare Monday, 19th and Tuesday, 20th October, 2026 as work-free days to be seriously used for general enlightenment and sensitization in the North, to ensure that all persons who registered within the period under reference go to the designated areas in their Wards to collect their PVCs.
Finally, KACRAN is calling on all media houses, both print and electronic, as well as social media platforms, to kindly engage in massive sensitization to ensure that all Nigerians whose PVCs are ready for collection are duly informed and rush to their Ward Headquarters to collect their PVCs, to enable them to vote for the candidates of their choice in all scheduled elections, so that all Nigerians will be proud of playing a significant role in electing their leaders in the forthcoming 2027 elections.
