Gender minister monitors LEAP payments in Volta Region
Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Agnes Naa Momo Lartey has monitored the disbursement of grants under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme at Ziavi Dzogbe in the Volta Region.
The visit was to assess the payment process, interact with beneficiaries and ensure eligible households received their grants following a nationwide rollout of the programme.
Dr Lartey stressed the importance of regular monitoring to ensure the funds reach their intended recipients.
She urged beneficiaries to use the money prudently to meet their household needs and advised caregivers receiving payments on behalf of beneficiaries to spend the funds in their best interests.
Two payment cycles are being disbursed together under the current exercise, with the amount paid determined by household size and vulnerability status.
Households with two members are receiving GHC784 if classified as vulnerable and GHC760 otherwise.
Those with three to four members are receiving GHC984 for vulnerable households and GHC904 for other households, while households with five or more members are receiving GHC1,260 if classified as vulnerable and GHC1,188 otherwise.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection said it remained committed to strengthening social protection delivery and ensuring support reaches households that need it most.
