Abia artisans pledge to mobilise 20,000 voters for Anosike

Artisans Welfare Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited has pledged to mobilise more than 20,000 voters for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Abia State, Dr Kelechi Anosike.

The society, whose membership spans 16 industrial clusters, adopted Anosike as its sole candidate and promised to mobilise across polling units in the state’s 17 local government areas.

Its members, including shoemakers, furniture makers, garment makers, welders, mechanics and spare parts dealers, said their support was informed by his proposals to improve livelihoods and support productive businesses.

The endorsement adds to declarations of support by community leaders in Ikwuano, Ibeku and Ohuhu, traditional rulers in Ohuhu and Item, the Ndoki Development Union, women’s organisations and urban professionals.

Anosike has anchored his campaign on “Service, Welfare, Progress,” promising infrastructure development, investment in people and wealth creation.

The PDP candidate, a motivational speaker, had encouraged supporters to organise meetings where he could explain his programmes.

“If they see me, they will like me; if they hear me, they will believe me,” he said.

Presidents-general of communities in Ikwuano, Ibeku and Ohuhu cited his capacity, humility and vision as reasons for supporting him.

In Ohuhu, supporters also linked their endorsement to the clan’s aspiration to produce an Abia governor. They recalled the legacy of the late Premier of Eastern Nigeria, Dr Michael Okpara, and previous unsuccessful governorship bids by sons of the clan.

Leaders of the Ndoki Development Union in Ukwa East said Anosike’s welfare proposals reflected their desire for opportunities that would support enterprise and improve living standards.

Urban professionals under the aegis of Urban Men and the Umuahia Political Forum cited the need for professionalism, effective urban planning and policies to strengthen investor confidence.

The Abia Men and Women Victory Movement, led by Hon. Cross Ananaba, also visited Anosike’s campaign office to declare support and commend the PDP for presenting him.

Women’s groups, including Abia Progressive Women, identified his proposed microfinance bank as a major attraction.

Under the proposal, the bank would provide collateral-free, interest-free loans to market women, farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs.

The groups said affordable finance would help women expand businesses that sustained households and supported local economies.

The Abia State chapter of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) endorsed Anosike’s proposals for affordable inputs, extension services, processing facilities and improved market access.

It said the measures would benefit poultry and fish producers, as well as food crop farmers.

The Azueke community in Umuahia similarly declared support, citing his competence, concern for people’s welfare and connection to community values.
