Musk suggests US government behind slowdown in Ukraine’s Starshield system

Elon Musk said any restrictions on Ukraine’s Starshield satellite system are controlled by the US government, not SpaceX. Ukraine’s former defence minister called for the removal of speed limits to strengthen the country’s defence.

SpaceX boss Elon Musk said that any disruptions Ukraine reports in its use of the Starshield satellite communications system would be the responsibility of the US government, and not his company.

“Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the US government. Any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS,” Musk stressed, referring to US President Donald Trump.

Musk underlined the distinction between the Starshield system, which Ukraine relies on for battlefield communications, and the parallel Starlink civilian satellite system, which Ukraine also uses but is not allowed to employ for offensive operations. Both systems were designed by Musk’s SpaceX. (EURO)
