Albert John Garrecht

In Loving Memory ~

October 17, 1941 ~ September 29, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Albert John Garrecht, who passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on October 17, 1941, in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, to Agnes and Nick Garrecht, Al lived a life defined by kindness, integrity, generosity, and service. Growing up on a small farm, he learned the values of hard work, humility, and helping others, qualities that remained at the heart of who he was throughout his life. Al began his career with CIBC as a teller and, through dedication and perseverance, worked his way up to branch manager, serving communities in Saskatoon, Abbotsford, Prince Rupert, and Creston. Early in his banking career, he met the love of his life, Doreen, while signing her up as a new client. Together they shared 48 wonderful years of marriage and raised their daughters, Leann and Marcy. Wherever life took them, they built lasting friendships and strong community connections. Al was known for his warmth, compassion, reliability, and quiet leadership. He had a gift for making others feel welcome and valued, and he could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. An avid curler, golfer, and proud Rotarian, Al embraced life fully. More than any hobby, however, he was committed to serving others. He devoted countless hours to supporting his communities. His contributions were recognized through numerous community awards, but those who knew him best understood that his greatest accomplishment was the positive impact he had on people’s lives. Al once said that if people remembered him as kind and helpful, then he would have lived a good life. By that measure, he lived an extraordinary one. To his family, he was a trusted advisor, a steady presence, and a source of unconditional love and support. Al was predeceased by his beloved wife, Doreen; his parents, Nick and Agnes Garrecht; his sister, Dolores; brothers-in-law Richard, Ed, and Brad; and nephew Jerad. He is lovingly remembered by his brother Larry (Jeannette); daughters Leann (Anders) and Marcy (Rob); grandchildren Chris (Emily), Emily (Justin), Kelsie, and Scott; great-grandson Owen; sisters-in-law Maureen and Cherie; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Castlewood, Castleview, and Trail Regional Hospital for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Rotary Club in honor of Al’s lifelong commitment to service and community. The family will hold a private service.

Though deeply missed, Al will be remembered with gratitude, admiration, and love. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the countless lives he touched through his kindness and generosity.
