Youth led reconciliation at Ucluelet Secondary School

Ucluelet Secondary School’s library was a beacon of student-led reconciliation on Sept. 30. Local students’ research, poetry and art were on display as part of an exhibit hosted by the school in partnership with the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust and Legacy of Hope Foundation to honour Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The students’ research was displayed on orange poster boards as well as audio visual presentations. Students designed orange shirts and published a book of poems, both of which are available to purchase with all proceeds going towards Nuu chah nulth programming in the region. The Youth Leading Reconciliation exhibit is now moving to Tourism Tofino’s Cox Bay Visitor Centre where it will be displayed from Oct. 9 – 15.
