Supporters of former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, have organised special prayers following the omission of his name from the final list of governorship candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The supporters gathered on Wednesday at Government Comprehensive Day Secondary School in Gombe metropolis to seek divine intervention over what they described as the politically motivated exclusion of their preferred candidate.

During the prayer session, they appealed to Almighty Allah to ensure justice, facilitate Pantami’s reinstatement as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Gombe State, and grant him success in his political ambition.

One of the supporters, Ahmed Sani, explained that the gathering was organised to complement ongoing legal and political efforts to resolve the dispute.

According to him, the supporters believe that ultimate power belongs to Allah and remain hopeful that justice will prevail.

He said they had pursued the necessary political and legal channels but had decided to seek divine intervention as the matter continued.

Another supporter, Ibrahim Mohammed, said the group remained committed to praying for Pantami’s success in his ongoing dispute with INEC.

Daily Trust reports that INEC excluded Pantami’s name from its final list of governorship candidates published on October 10.

In response, Pantami’s legal team, Ahmed Raji & Co., reportedly described the omission as unlawful and issued the electoral commission a three-day ultimatum to include his name on the list.

However, INEC explained in a circular released on Tuesday that Pantami and other candidates were omitted because of alleged non-compliance with Section 77 of the Electoral Act 2026.

The development has generated concern among Pantami’s supporters as efforts continue to resolve the dispute ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
