Suspect arrested in unprovoked stabbing in San Jose
SAN JOSE — A suspect has been arrested in connection with an unprovoked stabbing last month in San Jose, police said.
The incident happened Sept. 26 near the intersection of Branham Lane and Kingspark Drive, San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih said in a news release Thursday.
An investigation revealed the victim was walking in the area when the suspect grabbed and stabbed him multiple times, Shih said, adding that the victim did not know the suspect.
Shih said the suspect left the scene and the victim went to an area hospital to seek treatment for his injuries.
Using public safety camera footage , detectives identified the suspect as 30-year-old Paul Marquez of San Jose, Shih said. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shih said Marquez was arrested Oct. 3 in San Jose on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into Santa Clara County jail.
Due to the nature of the attack, detectives believe there may be other victims, Shih said.
