Reading Time: < 1 minute The shareholders of FoodHQ have decided that it will cease operating as a standalone organisation.

In a statement, chair Mark Piper said the collaborations FoodHQ had been created to build now exist in relationships across the system, and the wider changes in the sector, including the establishment of the Bioeconomy Science Institute, mean a separate organisation is no longer needed.

FoodHQ was launched in 2013 to connect research organisations, industry, entrepreneurs, investors and the government.

FoodHQ will work through an orderly closure over the coming weeks, alongside members, tenants, partners and stakeholders.

The organisation, led by chief executive Dr Victoria Hatton, has been headquartered in Palmerston North alongside Massey University, AgResearch, Plant & Food Research and Fonterra.
