Indianapolis Ranks 19th In US For Rodent Control Activity

Story illustration

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis ranked No. 19 among the 50 U.S. cities with the most reported rodent control activity in 2025, according to pest-control company Terminix.

New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia claimed the top three positions, continuing their presence among the cities with the highest demand for professional rodent control services.

The rankings were compiled using information from approximately 300 Terminix service locations nationwide. They reflect where customers most frequently requested rodent control assistance, rather than necessarily indicating an increase in rodent populations.

Dense urban areas often provide favorable conditions for rats and mice because of abundant food sources, large populations and numerous places to hide. Wild rodents can also pose health risks through waste, saliva, urine and contaminated dust that may carry harmful germs.

Homeowners can reduce the likelihood of rodent problems by keeping food in sealed containers, cleaning up crumbs and food scraps, and storing garbage in tightly closed containers. Clearing clutter from garages, basements and storage areas can also eliminate potential nesting sites.

Sealing cracks and gaps around foundations, doors and windows with sturdy materials can help prevent rodents from entering buildings.
