Hoover MS earns spotlight award for academic success

Hoover Middle School earned a state spotlight honor after raising math proficiency by 8%.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Hoover Middle School earned a state spotlight honor after raising math proficiency by 8%.

KOB 4 was at the school’s spotlight assembly, where the New Mexico Public Education Department recognized Hoover Middle School.

The department gives the spotlight designation to schools in the top 25% in the state.

This honor came after Hoover Middle School posted an 8% increase in math proficiency.

“Because yes, math scores are important, but learning to work together and learning to really grow as humans and be prepared for life and the real world, that’s what it’s all about,” school leaders said.

School leaders said the work behind that progress goes beyond the classroom.

Hoover Middle School is one of 39 Albuquerque schools to receive the honor this year.
