San Rafael police accuse suspect of murdering coworker

San Rafael police arrested a Richmond man on suspicion of murdering a coworker in Terra Linda.
Justin Amilcar Gutierrez-Navarette, 20, is being held without bail at the Marin County Jail.
The county coroner’s office did not release the name of the victim while it works to notify close family.
The crime happened at about 1 p.m. Monday, police Sgt. Justin Graham said. A witness called 911 to report that a man fell to the ground outside the Northgate Medical Dental Center on Las Gallinas Avenue. The witness provided first aid.
Police and paramedics determined the man had been stabbed, Graham said. Medics took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators allege that Gutierrez-Navarette and victim got into a fight stemming from an ongoing dispute. The stabbing happened at their workplace in the Northgate One Shopping Center, and the victim left and collapsed outside the medical office, Graham said. He declined to say where they were employed.
Gutierrez-Navarette contacted police later and offered to surrender, Graham said. Gutierrez-Navarette was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder at the San Rafael police station.
