Jigawa Hisbah Board Recognises Media as Partner in Progress

By Sulaiman Marshall

The Jigawa State Hisbah Board has acknowledged the media as a key partner in promoting its activities and ensuring accurate public information.

The Commandant-General, Dr Muhammad Fa’iz Bashir, stated this at a one-day sensitisation workshop for zonal social media officers organised by the board’s Media Unit at its headquarters in Dutse.

Represented by his Personal Assistant, Alhaji Muddasir Muhammad, Bashir said the board would support the Media Unit to effectively manage its public image and communication.

He urged social media officers to exercise caution in publishing content to avoid misinformation capable of causing tension in society. He also stressed that counselling against indecency and other social vices should remain a priority in Hisbah’s public enlightenment activities.

Earlier, the board’s Public Relations Officer, Dauda Muhammad Hadejia, said the workshop was organised to educate zonal social media officers on their responsibilities and discourage unauthorised publication of news, videos and audio materials.

He announced plans to establish a central social media platform at the headquarters to regulate postings, adding that no zonal or local government Hisbah command would be allowed to publish content without authorisation.

The facilitator, Engineer Adamu Musa Kore, trained participants on effective social media management and strategies for protecting and promoting the image of the Jigawa State Hisbah Board.
