Vicksburg brought home four statewide tourism awards from the 2026 Governor's Conference on Tourism, recognizing achievements in events, lodging, digital marketing and government leadership.

The Vicksburg Hipstoric Art Festival received Small Event/Festival of the Year, while Anchuca Historic Mansion and Inn was named Lodging of the Year.

Visit Vicksburg received the Best Overall Digital Media award, and state Sen. Briggs Hopson was honored with the Governmental Tourism Leadership of the Year award.

Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau Laura Beth Strickland said the recognition reflects the work of the Visit Vicksburg team and its community partners over the past year.

“I could not be prouder of our tourism accomplishments over the past year from our Visit Vicksburg team as well as our partners across the community,” Strickland said. “I am very grateful for the recognition and am glad to see Vicksburg standing out as among the best in Mississippi.”

The recognition for Visit Vicksburg's digital marketing efforts is particularly meaningful, Strickland said, because of the role those campaigns have played in promoting the city to potential visitors.

“Our digital marketing campaign has been very successful in bringing more awareness and visitors to Vicksburg, and I am so proud of our team for their hard work,” she said.

The Vicksburg Hipstoric Art Festival was also recognized for its success in bringing fine art to the city's historic downtown district and attracting visitors from across the country.

Anchuca Historic Mansion and Inn received recognition for its work in lodging and destination marketing.

“I'm so happy to see our tourism partner, Anchuca, recognized for their hard work delivering a great product as well,” Strickland said. “They have worked very hard to market themselves and bring brand recognition to Anchuca and to Vicksburg.”

Hopson was recognized for his support of tourism development throughout Mississippi.

“Senator Hopson has been a true leader in our state and a huge supporter of tourism,” Strickland said. “He understands the investment into tourism brings great return and has been a strong advocate for developing destinations throughout our state.”

Strickland called the awards a reflection of the city's growing tourism efforts and the partnerships behind them.

“It was a great day for Vicksburg and for tourism in Mississippi.”
